Life satisfaction in the transition from care to adulthood: the contribution of readiness to leave care and social support

Many young people rely on their parents when they transition into adulthood.  Young people transitioning out of alternative care rarely have that option. Uniquely Israel has a system wherein the vast majority of out-of-home placements are in residential settings.  This article examines the relationship between readiness to leave care and life satisfaction as it relates to this setting.  While results vary depending on the type of care, the study found that life satisfaction corresponded with readiness to leave care.
