Government of Somalia ratifies UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

UNICEF

Since its adoption in 1989, 193 countries have ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Somalia has just become the 194th. “By ratifying the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the government of Somalia is making an investment in the wellbeing of its children, and thus in the future of its society,” says Anthony Lake, Executive Director of UNICEF. The ratification will become final when Somalia “deposits the instruments of ratification” with the UN.
