Ghana’s Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has sent a formal request to the Hague to become a signatory of the Convention, according to this article from Graphic Online. Ghana has begun the process of formalizing its child welfare procedures, including foster care and adoption, in an effort to comply with international standards. The government has introduced an amendment to the Children’s Act of 1998 which centralizes adoptions to minimize abuses of the system and provides for other monitoring and restrictions of adoptions.
