Separated Children: Care and Protection of Children in Emergencies

WHAT: Guidance on preventing child separation, interviewing separated children, and programming for their care and protection needs.  Contains specific information on temporary and longer term care options.

WHO:  This guidance has been written for Save the Children staff and partner organizations, but is relevant for all organizations with programs for separated children. 

WHERE:  Global – for emergency preparation, in an emergency, and post emergency.

WHY:  Includes summary guidance on a variety of care options in an emergency including foster care, adolescent and peer group care, child headed households, institutional care, and adoption.
