A foster care group home in Kansas, USA housing 10 teenage girls in care, Carla's Youth Residential Center, has been closed due to suspected physical and sexual abuse and the facility, according to this article from U.S. News & World Report. A federal agnecy became aware of the alleged abuse and the Kansas Department of Children and Families (DCF) called for an emergency suspension order of the center. DCF began investigating the home in November. "That same day, all of the girls living there were removed, DCF Secretary Gina Meier-Hummel said. They have since been placed at other group homes, in foster care homes or were reintegrated into their own homes, she said." The suspension order states that the home's executive director, Carla Hobbs, and her facilities are the subject of an ongoing federal investigation.
