According to this article from AllAfrica, Nigeria's National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons has expressed great concern over "the illegal sale of children in the country" from unregistered orphanage homes. The Director General of the agency believes that "non-regulation of the activities of orphanage homes across the country have provided a fertile ground for the illicit trade to thrive." The agency has also noticed an increase in trafficking related to the 2018 World Cup in Moscow, with several cases of traffickers looking to take young girls to Russia.
