This study investigated what factors are associated with an improvement in quality of life (QoL) during residential stay for children and adolescents living in youth welfare institutions in Switzerland.

This article is written as part of the FORUM project (FOR Unaccompanied Minors: transfer of knowledge for professionals to increase foster care), an EU funded project which sought to enhance the capacity of professionals to provide quality foster care for unaccompanied migrant children, primarily through the transfer of knowledge. The article aims to contribute to this transfer of knowledge by bringing together literature which is of relevance to professionals developing or enhancing foster care services for unaccompanied migrant children.

Under the supervision of the Regional Advisor Monitoring and Evaluation and in close collaboration with the Child Protection team, the consultant will be responsible for working with Country Offices to improve evidence and data generation on key child protection issues, including but not limited to relevant SDG and UNICEF Strategic Plan indicators related to access to justice for children, children in alternative care, data on violence against children, including gender-based violence, and child marriage. 

This chapter aims at providing an overview on legislation, organizational structure and processes of child protection in Switzerland.

The aim of the systematic review described in this article was to determine the outcome of child maltreatment in long-term childcare and the scope of the evidence base in this area.

Based on ongoing qualitative research conducted with migrant families in Switzerland, this paper builds on empirical data gathered through interviews with both migrants and their G0 parents, from EU (France, Italy, Germany, Romania and Portugal) and non-EU countries (Brazil and North-African).
