Child Protection Mentoring Guide

Save the Children Australia

This guide was developed in recognition of the absence of regular formal supervision and routine mentoring for Save the Children staff in many Country offices (CO) and Members delivering Child Protection programming. It aims to build staff capacity through the provision of mentoring to Save the Children staff, funded partner organisations, staff and volunteers, including field coordinators, child and youth group leaders, community mentors and facilitators. The Guide also aims to inform and support the learning program for the Common Approaches. This includes Parenting Without Violence (PWV) and Steps to Protect/ Case Management, which requires staff to mentor others, and seek mentoring support themselves, as well as supervision. It has also been written in recognition of the current pandemic circumstances to provide guidance and support for remote mentoring when face to face is not possible, or during exceptional circumstances such as COVID-19.
