Parenting Programmes to Prevent Family Violence: Challenges and Opportunities

The Prevention Collaborative

This webinar includes presentations from the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Philippines, sharing experiences designing, managing and evaluating parenting interventions to reduce violence against children and adolescents by parents and caregivers. Harsh and abusive parenting in the home is one of the most common forms of violence children experience worldwide but evidence about effective interventions in low and middle-income countries is still emerging. Programmes may reduce some forms of violence, but show limited efficacy in interrupting other forms of family violence like intimate partner violence. With this webinar, The Prevention Collaborative brings together practitioners, researchers, and activists to openly discuss challenges and new opportunities for feminist-inspired, comprehensive approaches that tackle violence against children and women in the family.
