This webinar provided an opportunity for the care community to share experiences on the transformation of residential care.
The webinar included:
- A presentation by Rebecca Nhep, Senior Technical Advisor, Better Care Network, who shed light on emerging lessons and ongoing efforts/work done to ensure effective transitioning.
- A panel discussion on the transformation of Catholic child-care institutions in Zambia and Uganda and the transformation of residential care facilities for children with disability in Rwanda.
- The government’s perspectives on linking the transformation of residential care to system-level reforms.
The Regional Learning Platform on care reform for Eastern and Southern Africa provides an opportunity for government, UNICEF and others involved in care reform in the region to share learning through webinars, document exchange, a HelpDesk, and pairing and mentoring. The platform and its corresponding documentation was planned and conceptualised by UNICEF Eastern and Southern African Regional Office (ESARO) and Changing the Way We Care.
