Adopting a qualitative approach, this study gave voice to seven adoption applicants in Romania who began the adoption journey with one or more children but did not complete the legal process. The goal of the researchers was to understand their experiences throughout the adoption process and disruption. The present study is part of a larger research project that focused on the resilience of the adoptive family in Romania.

This study analyzes statistical data on the institutionalization of children aged between 0-6 years; examines current practices of prevention, identification, assistance, referral, and placement in institutions and family based alternative care; evaluates the knowledge and attitudes of professionals and decision makers and outlines recommendations for the development and introduction of a moratorium on placing children aged between 0-6 years in residential care.

In Romania, the right of adoptees to know their origins is enshrined in the Constitution and is regulated both in the Civil Code, adopted in 2011, and in special laws, which establish that adopted persons have the right to know their origins and their own past and, in this regard, are supported in their efforts to contact their natural parents or biological relatives.

This report presents an analysis of focus group discussions (FGDs) conducted over the course of December 2023 and January 2024 with children affected by the conflict in Ukraine, including those displaced within Ukraine as well as those in Romania, Moldova, and Georgia.

Cazul de investiții argumentează importanța și impactul investițiilor într-un sistem de îngrijire centrat pe familie și prezintă o estimare a resurselor necesare pentru a finanța serviciile de care Republica Moldova are nevoie pentru (i) a preveni plasarea copiilor în îngrijire rezidențială; (ii) a asigura îngrijirea copiilor în familii sigure și protectoare; și (iii) a transforma instituțiile rezidențiale în centre comunitare care răspund efectiv nevoilor comunității.

This study analyses the existing family-type social services in Moldova: Professional Parental Assistance (PPA) and Family-Type Children's Homes (FTCH) to identify the rationale for combining the two PPA/ FTCH family care services in terms of the quality of child care and the best interests of children. The study includes a comparative analysis of the regulatory framework of alternative family services and recommendations on the possibility and feasibility of combining the social services. The study concluded that to improve the quality of and access to family-based care services for children at risk, it is recommended that the PPA and FTCH services be merged, that the legal framework of the PPA service be revised, and that the most positive aspects of both services be taken into account.

The study follows the interaction between the individual and the social context regarding the development of adolescents protected in residential houses from the child protection system in Iasi County, Romania.
