LFBS services include:

  • Child Protection and Care: LFBS operates two separate Transitional Safe houses for boys and girls in the southern city of Les Cayes, Haiti. The children are most often rescued from emergency situations, abusive institutions or dangerous street conditions. They are referred to LFBS temporary care by local authorities. The Transitional Safe houses operate 24-hours a day to provide protection and healing while LFBS works with local and national authorities to reunify them with their families or find alternative community-based care. While in transition, the team of local LFBS staff focuses on the children’s physical, mental and emotional well-being with medicine, nutrition, education and — most of all — loving care.
  • Family and Community Development: Working with local authorities and organizations, LFBS provides a range of specialized programs and critical services including:
    • Family reunification, strengthening, mentorship and mediation

    • Basic education support for school registration, tuition, uniforms, books and literacy tutoring

    • Vocational trades training and post-secondary education

    • Business start-up programs to encourage self-sufficiency

    • Agriculture and livestock farming to ensure food security and income opportunities

    • Medical care and supplies, mental health and nutritional care

    • Abuse prevention workshops to educate and create proactive communities

    • Housing assistance (construction and renovation)

  • Human Rights Advocacy: LFBS works with Haitian government agencies and international organizations to educate, promote and activate change for children, women, men and families who are prone to abuse and exploitation.

  • Community-Based Alternative Care,  Prevention of Abuse and Exploitation
