2018 Prevention Resource Guide: Keeping Children Safe and Families Strong in Supportive Communities

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Children’s Bureau - Office on Child Abuse and Neglect, Child Welfare Information Gateway, & the FRIENDS National Center for Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention

The 2018 Prevention Resource Guide was designed to support service providers as they work with families to promote child well-being and prevent child maltreatment. It focuses on protective factors that build on family strengths to foster healthy child and youth development. The Resource Guide can be used along with the Protective Factors in Practice scenarios and the activity calendars to implement prevention strategies in your community. Read resource guides from previous years to learn how prevention strategies have changed over time.

The resource guide includes chapters related to child abuse and neglect prevention—including working with families and community partnerships—and tip sheets for caregivers.
