Away from Home: Protecting and supporting children on the move

Daniela Reale - Save the Children UK

This report from Save the Children examines the experiences of “children on the move,” the types of supports they need, and how protection systems can be adapted to meet those needs. The report proposes a new framework of protection and assistance to ensure the wellbeing of these children. In the case of this report, “children on the move” refers to children who migrate, with or without their parents or families, to other countries or within their countries, often due to “economic developments, violent conflict, state failure, natural disasters, and environmental and resource pressures, especially climate change.” The report offers recommendations for governments and international agencies to meet the needs of children on the move globally.
