This paper is the sixth of the second edition of the child rights bridging papers for the Civil Society Days of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (Dhaka, Bangladesh, 8 to 10 December 2016). It examines specificities affecting children on the move and other children affected by migration related to labour rights for migrant workers.
The paper highlights key SDGs, sections of the NY Declaration, and recommended principles to guide actions concerning children on the move and other children affected by migration, related to labour rights for migrant workers. It oulines recommendations regarding labour rights for migrant workers and children's rights. The paper explains the context and key challenges and issues related to labour rights for migrant workers, including child migrants in child labour, children migrating for labour purposes, exploitation of migrant children and related protection regimes, child migration and commercial sexual exploitation, labour migration and children of migrant workers and its impact on child-parent relations, and supporting migrant parents and children makes the difference.
