This Declaration from the International General Assembly of Defense for Children International (DCI) specifies global, thematic and issues of concern. It asserts DCI’s commitments, responses, and key responsibilities.
DCI’s global issues of concern involve governments’ “trends of diminishing commitment” to children’s rights; lack of qualitative and quantitative data on most issues related to advocating for children’s rights; strong policies and programs in favor of children; and the insufficient attention given to the area of children’s rights.
Thematic issues of concern involve the increased focus on immediate humanitarian issues lack focus to holistic, global approaches to the rights of children; gender equality; national laws on the human rights of children and the scope of issues hindering those rights; and the imperative of organizations working in human rights for children.
DCI commits to the mandate of the global movement for human rights for children as a whole. This document specifies key responsibilities and individual commitments.
