Implementation Handbook for the Convention on the Rights of the Child - Fully Revised Third Edition

Rachel Hodgkin and Peter Newell - UNICEF

This Implementation Handbook offers explanation and analysis of the articles in the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The handbook includes discussion on children’s separation from parents, an article on country migration for the purpose of family reunification, illicit transfer and non-return of children abroad, and children deprived of their family environment. The latter, Article 20, features discussions on alternative care, including foster care and adoption, as well as institutional care, children with disabilities, unaccompanied refugee and immigrant children, and children living or working on the street. Some of these topics are explored further in the articles that follow (Articles 21-23). The aim of the handbook is to be a tool for implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and to provide additional insight and interpretation.
