Introduction:
This guidance sets out the judgements that inspectors will make and report on when inspecting children’s homes under section 148 of the Education and Inspections Act 2006. It should be used to inspect children’s homes registered by Ofsted under the Care Standards Act 2000, including: refuges under section 51 of the Children Act 1989, short breaks services, and boarding schools and residential special schools registered as children’s homes under section 1(6) of the Care Standards Act 2000.
