This document serves as a brief of the UNICEF Child Protection Programme provided in Cambodia. The document states that one-in-two children have received physical abuse, one in four children in Cambodia have received emotional abuse, and 1-in-20 girls and boys have been sexually abused.
The document further states that residential care has almost doubled from around 6,000 in 2005 to over 11,000 in 2014. The problem of violence against women and children is embedded within the culture and changing these behavior patterns can be a challenge.
According to this document, UNICEF works with NGOs to provide services that allow children return to their families. These services include community-based services, disability services, behavior change campaigns, and other social services.
