Training Toolkit on the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child

The African Child Policy Forum & the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, with financial support from Save the Children

This Toolkit is intended for civil society members working for children, government officials responsible for children’s matters; key actors in children’s rights in the Regional Economic Communities (RECs) of Africa.The toolkit outlines training modules and includes take-home study materials on the provisions of the ACRWC (also known as the African Children’s Charter) and the work of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC). The toolkit includes case studies, group work, questions for self-evaluation and a feedback matrix on how trainees are applying the knowledge gained in their work. The toolkit is designed to increase knowledge of the rights and duties provided in the ACRWC and ACERWC, educate government officials on the obligations of State Parties and inform civil society actors on the contents of the Charter as well as the mechanisms for engaging with the ACERWC.
