The Triple P-Positive Parenting Program An example of a public health approach to evidence-based parenting support

This article provides an overview of the Triple P Parenting Program in Australia. The article begins with a description of the importance of parenting programs to children’s development, wellbeing and life opportunities. The article introduces the Triple P Parenting Program, its history, and its objectives. According to the article, the Triple P Parenting Program includes a multilevel system of parenting support geared towards normalising and destigmatising parental participation in parenting education programs. These five levels of intervention, described in the article, include: (1) media and communication strategy, (2) brief parenting interventions, (3) narrow focus parenting programs, (4) broad focus parenting programs, and (5) intensive family interventions. The article presents the evidence supporting the Triple P Program and describes how a public health approach to parenting support works.
