This manual, supported by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative (NCTSI) Grant, offers guidance on the implementation of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) with children in foster care and their families. The manual provides an overview of TF-CBT and its applicability for use with children in foster care, as a particularly vulnerable population with high rates of trauma. It explains the barriers to effective treatment of children in foster are as well as the legal issues of TF-CBT implementation, assessment and measurement strategies, and other considerations. The manual also highlights special considerations for involving biological parents, implementing TF-CBT in kinship care families, implementing TF-BCT with young children, and other considerations.
