This document provides a conceptual framework for Family for Every Child, a global network of national civil society organisations working to mobilise knowledge, skills and resources to build a world where every child grows up in a permanent, safe and caring family, and to provide quality alternative care where needed. The framework is organised according to Family for Every Child's five goals:
• Enabling children to grow up in permanent, safe and caring families
• Ensuring a range of high-quality, appropriate alternative care choices for children
• Taking steps to prevent children from having to live outside of any adult care, without the care of families or other carers, and in the interim protecting these boys and girls
• Promoting better and more participatory decision making about children’s care
• Building strong child protection systems which strengthen families
Under each of the five goals, the framework includes a description of the goal, some definitions and key concepts, a justification for why Family for Every Child is working towards the goal, and a list of key principles for good practice.
