The article provides an array of examples and biblical perspectives from the past and the present to help illustrate the commitment to children that is emphasized in the Christian Bible and the central beliefs and practices of Christianity. The article reminds that, while the Christian tradition and individual followers of the religion have often fallen short of the Christian teachings of child protection and nurturance, the Christian faith is also built around  the tenants of repentance and forgiveness, allowing Christians to continually renew their commitment to the care of children in their own communities and around the world.
