This report includes the statistical information regarding looked-after children in the UK for the year 1 April 2013 to 31 March 2014. The publication includes a definition of “looked-after” children and provides analysis of data on: how many children are looked after in the UK, characteristics and demographics of those children, the legal status of the children, placements of looked after children, children who entered the child protection system in that year, children who ceased to be looked after in that year, children who were adopted from care, and children who were formerly in care.
