In October 2018, Government of Uganda through Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD) in partnership with the National Association of Social Workers of Uganda (NASWU) won the bid to host the International Federation of Social Workers 2019 Africa region Conference on October 28-31, 2019. The conference is part of the National agenda to continuously expand and strengthen Social Work practice for improved social service delivery. Its therefore aligned to the national policy frameworks notably the social development sector plan 2015-2020 and the national social protection policy among others.
This conference aims to enhance existing linkages and build new partnerships and collaborations for the scale up of best social work practices that will hone the human relations and drive Uganda into achievements of sustainable development goals and national social development priorities.
Under the theme Social Work In Strengthening Human Relations For Social Economic and Political Transformation (Holistic empowerment) The IFSW 2019 Africa Region Conference aims to enhance existing linkages, build new partnerships and collaborations and serve as a platform for knowledge exchange and skills development for the scale up of best social work practices in Africa.
