Poverty is at the root of many factors that contribute to family separation and the placement of children in orphanages. Economic empowerment programs and activities that produce income for families, assist in savings and loans and increase financial literacy can all strengthen communities impacted by the challenges of poverty.
If you are working in Haiti, you know that it touches every part of a child’s life from chronic hunger, lack of funds for school, to homelessness and the draw of gang involvement. Poverty also puts children at risk of being sent outside the home to work or live in orphanages. It is an incredibly complex topic and there are no quick fixes or easy solutions in Haiti. But some programs ARE working.
Join us for a workshop that will delve deeper into these programs and the positive impact they have had. There will be time for Q&A and dialogue.
