Global and Regional Initiatives to Safeguard Every Child’s Right to Family Care and Protection for a Safer Future

This webinar will provide updates on key global debates and initiatives relevant to care reform. The first part of the session will focus on efforts to advance care reform within the African Union and will explore how children’s care is addressed through broader global initiatives in child protection and sustainable development.

Hon. Anne Musiwa, ACERWC Special Rapporteur on Children Without Parental Care, will share recent African Union initiatives aimed at promoting children’s rights. This will be followed by presentations on how care reform within Africa has been highlighted in recent events such as the Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children and the Global Summit of the Future.

The second part of the webinar will take a closer look at a key area of debate in Africa—linkages between care and social protection.

The working group will also unveil their updated name and brand which embodies their vision that every child in Africa thrives in a safe, nurturing, and loving family. Investing in our future means investing in our children, and this milestone reaffirms our commitment to making this vision a reality.
