INSPIRE: Seven Strategies for Ending Violence against Children represents a select group of strategies with the greatest potential to reduce violence against children based on the best available evidence. INSPIRE is a resource to help countries and communities intensify their focus on violence prevention programmes and services and to ensure that their interventions are evidence-based. The seven strategies are: Implementation and enforcement of laws; Norms and values; Safe environments; Parent and caregiver support; Income and economic strengthening; Response and support services; and Education and life skills. The INSPIRE book collates the existing evidence based for each of these strategy areas. The World Health Organization (WHO) initiated preparation of the INSPIRE package, in collaboration with key actors including: the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children; the President’s Emergency Program for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), Together for Girls, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the World Bank.
The aim of the Webinar is to present the INSPIRE document and to present a summary of key evidence for each of the seven areas. Please note that this is a preliminary webinar to introduce INSPIRE; additional webinars to be held later will focus on the development of operational guidance for rolling out INSPIRE. This webinar is not to be confused with another one taking place on 14 December, which is about the INSPIRE Handbook, an operational tool currently being developed.
