Webinar: Responding to the transnational needs of Care Leavers amidst COVID-19

Institute of Social Pedagogy and Organization Studies – University of Hildesheim – Germany, SOS Children's Villages, and Udayan Care

The current covid pandemic has affected all of us in ways that cannot be expressed in words. It is no different for Care Leavers who face heightened risk of job loss, social isolation & distress, financial security, etc.

The organisers of this webinar have captured the thoughts of young care leavers on the challenges they are encountering in the face of covid and how they could be supported. In the wake of COVID-19, there is growing concern that young people leaving care will face even greater challenges.

This webinar will reflect on the findings of the survey and current responses in considering what may help support young care leavers during this pandemic. The points that emerge from the break-out sessions will form the basis of a declaration to be presented to the concerned authorities for requisite support.

This webinar is being organised for young people who have experience of growing up in Alternative Care Settings such as institutional care, foster care, kinship care, etc. (Care Leavers) from across the globe.
