About the role

The University of Strathclyde is looking to appoint an outstanding researcher to a post leading Child and Youth research, as part of the Strathclyde Global Talent Programme.

The role will help to build stronger bridges between the School of Social Work and Social Policy (where the post will be based), the Centre for Excellence for Children's Care and Protection, the Centre for Youth and Criminal Justice, and will play a leading role in the Institute for Inspiring Children's Futures.

To apply for this post you will have an internationally recognised research portfolio in this area; are publishing in leading international journals; are actively pursuing funding whilst building impactful collaborative links with industrial and business partners; and have a passion for leading on teaching and learning.

About you

You will have a proven ability to attract substantial research funding over a sustained period and the ability to build an internationally leading research group, successfully managing and promoting the group's research within an international arena. You will also have a track record of multi/inter-disciplinary research collaborations and developing external partnerships and extensive experience of delivering high quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as the supervision of research students.

Qualifications and experience

You will have a good honours degree and PhD in relevant discipline/s along with strategically-aligned research interests with an outstanding international reputation, and record of achievement in research and publication in your field. You will be a member of relevant Chartered/professional bodies (including the Higher Education Academy).

About the school

The School of Social Work and Social Policy is an interdisciplinary group of researchers and teachers in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. They carry out teaching in areas relating to Social Work, Social Policy, Education and Social Services, Child and Youth Care Studies, and Residential Child Care. They also undertake research and knowledge exchange in a range of areas, including children, young people and families; health and wellbeing; citizenship and communities; and social and criminal justice.
