Senior Technical Advisor - Child Protection World Vision

The Senior Technical Advisor provides technical leadership for action across the Partnership in order to improve practice, lead innovation, foster ongoing learning and build evidence around our programmatic and advocacy efforts to achieve child protection outcomes. This role will have a focused responsibility in the technical implementation of the global Child Protection Framework for Action. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of an innovative global capacity building strategy that needs to be adopted and utilised within all regions in order to then influence the Partnership as a whole.

Preferred Locations: Federal Way, WA or Washington, DC. Position location to be determined by successful candidate where WVI is registered. No relocation assistance provided. The application deadline is 21 November 2014. This position’s type is open-ended and full time.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Drive and facilitate innovation and ongoing learning around the child protection programming and advocacy, guided by the Child Protection Theory of Change.

  • Develop and oversee capacity building strategy and approaches for field staff and national offices (and regional offices) to be able to develop technical and core competencies to effectively and critically work on child protection.

  • Develop and coordinate a global CP evidence and learning strategy, focused on integrated efforts toward the CP Theory of Change and establishing WVI as a global leader in child protection.

  • Coordinate strategic efforts with GAM and SO Programming and Marketing teams to grow funding for child protection programming and advocacy across the Partnership.

  • Manage GC CP technical staff to provide technical guidance and advice to strengthen World Visions child protection work across sectors and themes, contributing to the end results, including testing and improvement of CP Project Models.

  • In coordination with and support of the GC CP Director, build and strengthen collaborative relationships with peer agencies and research institutions to contribute to the cutting edge of new thinking, approaches around child protection
