In this post, the organization Against Child Trafficking “call upon the Government of Uganda to immediately pass the Children’s Act revisions and allow Uganda and Ugandan laws to dictate local solutions for children, not foreign adoption agencies.” The article highlights a recent report that staff members at the US Embassy in Uganda were “involved in unethical practices in relation to international adoptions and visa fraud.” Furthermore, the article explains, many adoption agencies in Uganda are lobbying to block the proposed amendments to the children’s act in Uganda which would close up loopholes that currently allow for the trafficking of children for the purpose of adoption, according to the article.
