The coalitions of Civil Society Organisations (CSO) in Uganda are advocating for an amendment of the Children Act 2015 to promote adoption within Uganda. According to the article, the coalitions of CSOs believe that promoting domestic adoption will help to curb “rampant child trafficking in the country.” As part of this amendment process, the CSOs have urged members of the Parliamentary committee on Gender, Labour and Social Development to enact “stringent laws” to “discourage inter-country adoption of children by foreigners, who expose children to exploitation and slavery under the guise of adopting them.”
