The state of Kentucky in the US has implemented a new program for youth aging out of foster care called 'Fostering Success.' The program “places young adults aged 18 to 23 in a 10-week office job at a local branch of the Kentucky Department for Community Based Service,” according to the article. Youth who participate in the program will work full time a period of two and a half months for $10 an hour and will develop skills in computers and customer service, says the article. After their employment, participants will have the opportunity to meet with career and college counselors to prepare for their next steps, living independently outside of foster care.
