Government institutions and civil society representatives in Jordan have launched a three-year national strategy and action plan aimed at reducing physical violence against children in Jordan at a meeting convened by the National Council for Family Affairs and UNICEF. "The national plan, developed jointly by government line ministries, institutions, private sector, civil society organizations, media and the UN, aims at significantly reducing physical violence against children in all settings in Jordan by transforming social norms and practices." This will include engaging "scholars, Imams, and men and women preachers, in communicating with all segments of the society" to help prevent and address violence against children in all settings.
