This article from the Guardian highlights findings from recent research which indicates the "children in care are six times more likely to be cautioned or convicted of a crime than other young people." The review, the result of a year-long inquiry by Lord Laming for the Prison Reform Trust, "also found half the children in youth custody came from foster or residential care." The report recommends that criminal justice agencies and social services collaborate more closely and that police improve practices regarding prosecution of children and young people in care.
