“It is not acceptable to make sweeping reductions in children’s rights with very few safeguards and absolutely no parliamentary scrutiny. We understand the pressures that local authorities are under right now, but these measures could increase the risk of harm to children and the government has not produced any evidence to suggest they are necessary," said Siddiq.
