Legislation Would Keep Foster Kids From Having to Change Schools

Stell Simonton - Youth Today

A new bill has recently been introduced in the United States Senate which would require school districts and child welfare agencies to work together to keep children in their original school when it is in their best interest. All too often, says the article, children in foster care are transferred to new schools, causing a serious disruption in their education. “They may have to change schools when they first enter foster care, then shift from school to school with each new foster home.” This bill would address this issue.
