"Children who were fostered by the Social Welfare Office in 1997 and were allegedly given to an orphanage, were reunited with their biological mother at an emotional ceremony on Monday in Mchinji," according to this article. According to an interview with the children's mother, the children had been placed with the Social Welfare Office after her husband died and she struggled to take care of 14 children and was later told they would be moved to an orphanage where they would be taken care of. She said she was told she would be able to visit her children there, which never happened.

After several attempts to find her children, the mother was then told they were not at an orphanage, but with foster parents. She contacted the authorities and a local radio station and tracing to locate the children began. Eventually, these efforts were successful.
