The Georgian Coalition for Children and Youth Welfare presented the report ‘Georgia: The Child Protection Index: Measuring the Fulfillment of a Child’s Rights’ at a public event on June 5. The event was attended by Government representatives, international and national organisations, local partners, the Executive Director of The Romanian Federation of NGOs for Child (FONPC) and ChildPact’s President. Andy Guth, World Vision’s Data Collection Manager and co-author of the report, presented some of the findings of the Index, including how Georgia’s efforts toward greater child protection compare to four other countries in the region: Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, and Serbia.
Learning from the Romanian Federation of NGOs for Child (FONPC) on the experience of the Romanian coalition in working towards child protection at national and regional level was also shared at this event along with presentations from the representatives of the Youth Committee of the Georgian Coalition who shared their concerns regarding the institutionalization of children.
