In this piece, Robert Halfon, the Chair of the UK Parliament's Education Select Committee, writes that England's foster care system is failing vulnerable children. "Foster children currently face a lottery of care, the prospect of frequent moves from one home to another and even of separation from their siblings," says Halfon. According to Halfon, foster carers are not getting the necessary support (financial or otherwise) to provide the most appropriate care for children. He refers to the Education Committee's recent report on fostering and the recommendations outlined within it, including ensuring that foster care allowances meet rising living costs, providing training and support resources through an online college, and improving capacity in the system by establishing recruitment and awareness campaigns.
