In this video from the BBC, Clive Myrie reports from Ethiopia, the first stop for many Eritrean migrants en route to Europe. “After Syria, the largest number of migrants seeking to come to the [Europe] are from Eritrea,” says the article. Many Eritreans are fleeing their country because of the conditions created by a military dictatorship there. Many of these migrants are children, often escaping to avoid conscription. Some of these children are accompanied by family but others are traveling alone. The video features a few of these children who are waiting in Ethiopia to make their way to Europe in hopes of a better life.
