World Identity Network and United Nations team up to launch innovative blockchain pilot to help prevent child trafficking

Markets Insider

The World Identity Network (WIN), the United Nations Office for Project Services(UNOPS) and the United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (UN-OICT) have partnered to launch a pilot initiative that will use blockchain technology to help combat child trafficking by "securing data on an immutable ledger." The initiative is designed to help address the vulnerability of undocumented children to trafficking and the use of fake identification documents by traffickers.

The partners are also launching a  "Global Challenge" to find the best ideas and guidance for using the blockchain technology for humanitarian purposes, including prevention of child trafficking. Submissions by interested parties can be made online here:  http://bit.ly/Blockchain4Humanity
