This issue of the BCN newsletter focuses on progress of reforms of the alternative care system in Ghana. The issue was produced in partnership with UNICEF Ghana country office and highlights the recently launched report of a National Survey of the Residential Care Facilities for Children in Ghana, along with several vital policy documents and tools to guide implementation of deinstitutionalization, including Guidelines for Deinstitutionalization, a Training Manual for Caregivers of Children with Disabilities, Alternative Care Standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), a Social Welfare Workforce Assessment, and others. These and other resources in the focus section of this issue provide important insights in progress made in Ghana over the last decade and practical examples of guidance for caregivers, practitioners, policymakers and others on ensuring quality care for children.
