BCN provides technical guidance on care issues by responding to individual requests, providing input to inter-agency working groups, contributing to regional and national care reform initiatives, and through the BCN Toolkit. This includes technical support to care actors in crisis situations (such as the 2010 earthquake in Haiti and the 2014 Ebola crisis in West Africa), and collaboration with a wide range of countries to support national deinstitutionalisation efforts.
BCN has also published a number of working papers on key issues around alternative care and child protection, which provide technical guidance and support to care practitioners. This includes papers on supporting quality family care, the harm caused by institutionalisation, the role of social service workforce strengthening in care reform, and the importance of responding to the needs of children with disabilities in care initiatives.
