Boarding Schools, National Minimum Standards: Inspection Regulations

WHAT:  A set of standards for ensuring welfare protection at boarding schools.  It includes standards and outcomes that outline a school’s welfare policies and procedures, organization and management, welfare support to boarders, staffing, and premises. It also includes inspection regulations.

WHO:  Policy makers, school administrators and social and community workers providing accommodation for children.

WHERE:  This document provides UK specific guidance, however the standards are universally relevant with adaptation to local resources and needs. 

WHY:  To guide in the design of boarding school welfare protection services. Also provides a model for establishment of an effective inspection methodology and reporting process.
