WHAT: A training resource pack on skills for working effectively with children, particularly children in distress. It provides an introduction to communicating with children, and psychosocial interventions guarding the well-being of children affected by conflict.
WHO: Trainers, social and community workers, managers and field staff working with children in distress, in or affected by emergencies and/or displacement.
WHERE: Globally relevant however regional or country-specific adaptation of materials such as case studies will make the training more relevant.
WHY: Provides a theoretical overview and training tools for introducing field staff to communication and psychosocial skills for working with children, particularly refugee, displaced, separated and/or distressed children. It includes useful training notes, workshop plans, overheads, handouts, exercises and case studies.
N.B. Included in this toolkit are the French and Spanish versions of this resource.
Fourteen resource packs have been developed focusing on the rights and needs of refugee and displaced children. In addition an ARC Facilitator's Toolkit provides guidance on developing learning opportunities. These resources are also available in Arabic, French and Spanish.
