ECPAT International (End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes

WHAT:  A resource pack for training caregivers of children who have been commercially sexually exploited.  It includes 12 units to develop knowledge and practical skills of caregivers in areas such as child sexual abuse, commercial sexual exploitation, special and psychosocial needs, behavior management, health promotion, life and social skills, education and vocational training, communication and therapeutic skills, and rehabilitation.  It also includes a unit on providing care and support to caregivers to avoid professional burnout.

WHO:  Trainers, managers and social and community workers involved in preparing staff for the protection and rehabilitation of child survivors of commercial sexual exploitation, trafficking, and sexual abuse.
 
WHERE:  Global relevance.  Supplementation and adaptation to reflect individual country or organizational situations is encouraged.

WHY:  Provides theoretical overviews and practical exercises for training caregivers and centre staff in the meeting the particular needs of children who have been sexually exploited. Each training unit provides useful tools, including lesson plan and purpose, list of resources needed, trainer instructions, participant worksheets / handouts, and individual and group exercises. This resource is particularly useful in the development of individualized training workshops that meet specific participant and/or country needs.
