On November 20, 2024, the Evidence for Impact Working Group as part of the Transforming Children’s Care Collaborative hosted the "Building Evidence to Impact Care Reform - Challenges and Lessons Learned" webinar as part of a continuous discussion about what evidence is and how it can best drive impact. This working group aims to foster a strategic and coordinated approach to generating and applying ‘evidence for impact’ on children’s care policy, system strengthening and practice.
The webinar served as an opportunity to hear from two working group members about ongoing research projects that were designed to inform system strengthening initiatives:
Jen Dixon, Senior Learning & Research Manager at Lumos and Lucy Halton, Advocacy and Campaigns Manager at Lumos, presented on their organization's recent global thematic review which examines the well-acknowledged but under-researched relationship between education and institutional care.
Jo Wakia, MEAL Director at Changing the Way We Care (CTWWC) and Roberto Tejada, CTWWC's Guatemala Manager, shared findings and lessons learned from their organization's child and caregiver surveys which explores protective factors and well-being after reintegration from residential care and within families at risk of separation.
The Evidence for Impact Working Group brings together researchers, measurement experts and practitioners working on establishing data systems on children’s care to foster a strategic and well-coordinated approach to research and data in the sector, with a focus on generating and applying ‘evidence for impact’ on policy, systems and practice globally.
